A strange instrument

By admin | January 29, 2008

Personally, I have never seen an oud before, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Some people call these oriental guitars with the name of lutes, again another phrase I was very unfamiliar with. But when my friend from the Middle East brought one over to the house the other day, I must say I was enlightened. Is a very unique instrument, being that it’s shaped like a huge pear, yet it is like a guitar in many respects. A noticeable difference is that it does not have a long neck, nor does it have frets in which to visually place your fingers when you play. Seems to me, but learning this instrument is more of an art than a science.
