Working On New Series

Graham and I have begun working on the comedy series again. We’ve been researching historical audio shows to see what made the best ones so good and there are some common features. Other than the talent and timing of the cast involved, most of the really good audio comedies had a pretty strict format that recurred from week to week. They also seemed to have running gags and catch phrases that developed over time. It’s hard to tell how much of that was intentional and how much was intuitive or trial and error. We don’t want to be slavish or formulaic, just want a good grounding in this stuff so we can sense when we’re on the right track.
We’ve got a pilot written and we’ll record that and then take it from there. I’d forgotten how much fun it is to work with Graham. He’s such a great guy.
