Data Conversion Software and Why Data Get Lost

Most non-geek people couldn’t explain why certain amount of data gets lost in the process of transferring files. It happens. The liquor analogy tries to explain it that transferring data involving files from one computer to another is like mixing sets of liquors in one bottle. There will be leakage and slippage of some amount even if you try very hard not to waste anything. A drop or two of liquid, no matter how insignificant, will crawl down to the soil. Loss of data usually happens if the data on the old machine did not go through data conversion software. The process of importing and exporting data from one computer to another is called data conversion. And as often the case, especially when you are transferring data from one application to another data, conversion means recording and transformation of data. Hundreds of versions of data conversion tools are available for MS Windows, Unix, Linux, Novell and other operating systems. Converting data from old operating systems and transferring them to new operating systems with the least loss of data is the aim of most data conversion software. Computer geeks would agree that good data conversion software allows you to convert data and migrate that data from an old machine to a new machine without taking up too much of technological resources.
