Delayed Injury From a Car Accident is Common

By admin | December 31, 2008

Did you know that sometimes when somebody is involved in a car accident they don’t even feel like they’re injured until about 24 hours after the accident?I bet you didn’t know that.  Most people don’t.  I learned this the hard way several years ago when I had what appeared to be a mild fender bender.  I was stopped at a traffic light when some old lady wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing and struck my car in the rear.  She hit me pretty hard but I didn’t feel any pain right away. There wasn’t even much damage to my car to be honest.I drove away from the accident scens and figured that was the end of it.  Well, the next day I couldn’t move.  I was hurting from head to toe.  I immediately called a local chiropracter here in Huntington, Long Island. The chiripracter told me that this was very common.  He examined me and siad that I had a pretty nast sof tissue injury in both my neck and lower back.I couldn’t believe it.  How is it possible that I was hurt so badly but not feel any pain right after the accident.  The chiropracter explained how it works and now I completely understand.  The body sometimes shuts down after you get injured.  It’s a protection mechanism that we all have. It protects you from feeling intense pain. The chiropracter also told me that I’d be needing a good lawyer.  He gave me the name of one of the best car accident lawyers Long Island has to offer.
