Can ho shou wu really help with graying hair?
By admin | March 29, 2008
Ho shou wu is from the buckwheat family and has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. The Chinese believe that it makes you look and feel younger; and many Chinese women and men take ho shou wu in hopes that it might revitalize their bodies and to rectify their qi imbalances that arise when their yin (body fluids) and yang (fire if life) are not existing in harmony, therefore creating bad health.
Shou wu in Chinese means “head full of black hair”. In Chinese medicine Ho shou wu is taken in Chinese herbs that claim to nourishe the liver, kidney and blood; and is a remedy for hair loss and grey hair.Current research has shown that it might help with healthy cholesterol levels, and maybe help maintain the health of blood vessels.
Ho shou wu is also used in China for possible help with back pain, hair loss, hair greying, and to help in strengthening bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments. It is also believed to increase energy. That is a long list of believed uses so obviously medical studies should be conducted to see exactly what effects it might have.
