Cord Care For Newborn
By admin | April 26, 2008
One of the things you should be most careful of is the umbilical cord. So to do Cord Care for your newborn child, you have to keep it clean and dry as much as much as possible, most of the time. So in order to keep the cord dry, sponge bathe your baby rather than submersing him in a tub of water. It usually dries, then heals then it usally falls off after 1 to 3 weeks.
So if you observe the following signs of infection, do bring your baby to the doctor: foul smelling, yellow discharge and if there is any redness or tenderness on the skin surrounding the cord. Of course, if there is bleeding, bring him or her to the doctor immediately.
