A background check is necessary

By admin | January 27, 2008

Given the trend toward “helpful” reference checks, an objective background check is a prudent supplement to a former supervisor’s enthusiastic recommendation.  If the background search is favorable, an Office of Human Resources will usually notify the hiring manager that the candidate is approved to begin employment.  Criminal convictions that involved a violent activity on the part of the individuals for which a background check is performed (regardless if conviction is for an infraction, misdemeanor or felony) represent a problem.  If an employee is promoted or reclassified from one critical position to another critical position, a second background check is not required.  If a person currently works and/or volunteers at two locations, only one background check is necessary.
