Want to Learn Guitar, consider taking Guitar Lessons
By admin | January 27, 2008
A lot of beginner guitar players after they first purchase their guitar decide to start learning it on their own. They might buy a book or two, but their goal is to become a proficient guitar player all on their own. Can it be done? Sure, with a lot of hard work, discipline, and understanding. How ever a much smarter way would be to enroll in some guitar lessons to at least get up to speed with the basics.
It amazes me how many beginners want to teach them selves, yet waste more time trying to understand what they’re learning rather then letting a professional instruct them through the first few weeks.
Here’s just a quick overview of why it’s worth looking at private guitar lessons
Holding your guitar correctly, and proper hand position: Many beginners don’t get the right setup when they’re learning technique on the neck. They tend to not have their thumb in the correct position, and this causes them problems down the road with their playing. Learning it right the first time makes more sense.
Guitar theory and learning to read music: Few beginners every get to the point where they can read music well, and play it, or much about theory in general. I’m not talking about the names of the strings but more what makes a chord a chord, and scales on the neck
Advanced Chords, and scales: Knowing the basic Major and Minor chords is easy but getting into advanced style specific chords requires lessons no questions asked. Also hand in hand with the previous point, scales are something rarely learned when people teach themselves.
