What is on “the list”?

I was starting out as an apprentice for an event planner. On my first event, which was a wedding, I was tasked with putting together the things from “the list”. It had several items that I was not really sure why they were there. Nail polish, toothpaste and menthol candy got me all confused. I mean, I understood why mens cufflinks and bobby pins needed to be there. However, halfway through the reception, the bride complained of a run that was starting in her pantyhose. Oh my, the nail polish was actually needed to do the rescue! I certainly learned a lot from that first event – things that I can take with me when I finally become a party planner myself.
