Basics of Barcode technology

By admin | May 31, 2008

Do you know the Basics of Barcode technology? A bar code is essentially a set of numbers that can be interpreted by a computer or even a person into several segments. The numbers themselves correspond to something such as what type of product it is, what company in the data base the numbers usually the second set correspond to and so forth. The last 4 or 5 numbers often are the products number which is the same at any store it is found in. The bar code portion of the tag is a set of bars and spaces (which are bars of the opposite color essentially) that have specific lengths and can be read by a laser quickly and interpreted by the computer. A person can read the numbers but cannot interpret the bars by sight but the bars and the numbers are essentially the same in meaning. One is basically so the computer can read it fast.
